WORCESTER – How does a business grow to $17 billion in annual revenue and the top of the Fortune 500 list with little public notice? According to Thomas P. Joyce Jr., president and CEO of Danaher Corp., it’s the shared purpose of the company’s employees summed up in four words: Helping realize life’s potential.
Mr. Joyce was the guest speaker at the Worcester Economic Club’s 546th meeting held at the Hogan Center at the College of the Holy Cross Thursday night.
Mr. Joyce, a 1982 Holy Cross graduate serving on the board of trustees, discussed how his strategy to align the company and culture around a shared purpose to build a deeply engaged workforce at all levels, has strengthened Danaher’s focus as a leading science and technology company, since taking the top post there in Sept. 2014.
During an interview before the meeting at the school that celebrated the opening of its newly constructed Thomas P. Joyce ’59 Contemplative Center in Oct., 2016, for the college’s many retreat programs and named after his father, Mr. Joyce, 56, talked about how he is leading Danaher’s strategic vision and global portfolio growth.
